With Christmas now less than 10 days away, the Xtensive team are definitely feeling the festive spirit.
The Christmas tree is up in the office. We’ve had our Christmas night out which involved us shooting zombies and getting tramped by an elephant in VR (including Liam running into a wall). We will also have a festive afternoon in the office when team members start to finish up where we have a quiz, festive snacks and a few rounds of Mario Kart. It’s safe to say that we love Christmas here at Xtensive.
What exactly is it that we love about Christmas? From the delicious festive food to all the festive lights, presents to time off to spend with our loved ones. But most important of all – we love Christmas movies! Who doesn’t love watching a cheesy Christmas movie or two (or in our case twenty) during the holiday season. But what exactly is the best holiday movie? We asked the Xtensive team for their two favourite festive films and here is what everyone picked.

Elf, Love Actually & Jack Frost.
Elf was picked by both Colin & Scott and we can see why. A feel good Christmas movie that warms your heart (Liam prefers the stage show though). Love Actually is Colin’s second festive pick – a Christmas classic with a stellar British cast and soundtrack. The scene with Emma Thompson opening her present and realising her husband has been unfaithful to her still gets us every time!
Jack Frost is Scott’s second festive pick – a Christmas classic from the late 90’s starring Michael Keaton who dies in a car accident but is brought back to life as a snowman. Talk about dramatic.

Jingle All The Way, The Holiday & The Santa Clause
Jingle All The Way and The Santa Clause are both Ryans picks for best Christmas films. He loves Jingle All The Way for being a fun comedy film and The Santa Clause purely for the Christmas spirit. Just don’t watch the The Clauses TV show on Disney Plus, it’s not very good!
The Holiday is Hayley’s first pick. Calling it ‘the perfect Christmas rom com’, The Holiday is a big favourite across most of the Xtensive team for it’s interesting concept and stellar performances from a top tier cast.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, The Grinch & Last Christmas
Hayley’s second pick is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation saying that it reminds her of her dad as they watched it every Christmas as a kid.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Last Christmas are Liams two picks for best festive films. The Grinch to him is the perfect movie period. Funny with jokes for adults and kids and he swears he finds something new to laugh at every time he watches it. Last Christmas is a more recent festive film, released in 2019 starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding. He loves it mainly for Michelle Yeoh’s ridiculous Christmas shop and the George Michael soundtrack.
And with that we’d like to wish all of our clients a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. We close for the holidays on Christmas Eve and will reopen on the 2nd January. See you in 2025 for many exciting new projects in the pipeline.
